ZACHARY ALAN STALLS
Zach was our only child. When we lost him, he had just turned five a month and a half before on August 21st. He was excited to be five, but even more excited to be six, seven, eight and so on. He couldn’t wait to grow up. The month before he passed away we went to California for a week. It was our third family vacation to California. This trip was his first time to go the Knott’s Berry Farm. He had a good time, but was so upset he was not big enough for all the big scary roller coasters. He didn’t want to wait to get bigger, he wasn’t afraid, so he thought he should be able to ride them. Zach was our little daredevil.

From the time he was one year
old we knew we had our hands full. He never slowed down, always into something
or on top of something he shouldn’t be. For his first birthday his grandparents
and uncle bought him his first motorized car. Going fast didn’t scare him; in
fact, nothing went fast enough in his eyes. When he was two, he got a motorized
Harley-Davidson from his grandparents. He would lean forward and get low
thinking he was making it go faster. When he turned three we got him a toy
quad. He loved riding over the curbing and over the rocks in the backyard, as
well as trying to jump the curb out front. In his little mind he was preparing
for a dirt bike like Daddy’s. He wanted one so badly, but we told him he had to
learn how to ride his bike without training wheels first. Needless to say the
training wheels came off shortly thereafter. When we tried to help him, he said
“ I can do it myself”, and sure enough he taught himself that day. The problem
was, as soon as he got the hang of it, he laid his bike down, looked at us with
a huge smile and said “yea, I get a dirt bike”. Zach thought that after riding
his bike for ten minutes he was fully prepared for a dirt bike. We explained to
him that he needed to get good on his bike. He didn’t like that, but
understood, so he kept riding his bike everyday. He seemed to master some
tricks and loved jumping. He scared us to death. In April of 2002 he got his
Yamaha PW50. He could finally go riding with Daddy and the guys. He thought
that was the coolest thing.

When Zach wasn’t riding something he had tons of other things he filled his day with. His favorite thing to do was play with his best friend, Jordan. They were inseparable. If they weren’t riding bikes or playing with action figures they were dressing up in costumes imitating their favorite super heroes. Zach loved to be at Jordan’s house. Jordan had two older brothers so they had all the toys. They loved to jump on the big trampoline. Zach had his own trampoline but he wanted a big one like Jordan’s. Zach and his dad would go out back and jump on the trampoline together. Zach would laugh and keep saying “Again Daddy, again.” He thought it was great when Shawn would bounce him high.
While inside, Zach spent a lot of time on the computer. He loved to play learning and action games. He also loved his motorcycle games on his PlayStation. We would play board games such as Candyland and Sorry. Playing card games was another of his favorite things. He loved playing Go Fish, Old Maid and Memory. I taught him how to play War, but I always won, so he preferred not to play it. Zach really loved to do workbooks. He wanted everyone to know how smart he was. The one toy that gave him the most laughs was a whoopee cushion. The only thing that made him laugh like that was when you would tickle him. Oddly enough he would ask us to tickle him. The belly laughs that kid let out were the best.
I could write a book about
our sweet angel but a small amount about his life is all I can put in this
biography. There are so many wonderful stories about Zach from all who knew
him. We are so glad that God chose us to be his parents. Zachary Alan Stalls
is the love and light of our lives. Our little boy will always be a part of our
everyday life because he lived on in our hearts and souls.
Zachary taught us
more about love in his short life than we have learned from any other
relationship. We thank God and Zach for those lessons. Zach’s beauty and
personality were infectious. You couldn’t know him and not be head over heels
in love with him. We all miss and love him very much. Shawn and I have been
pushing ourselves not to give up and to keep going on. Life will never be the
same for us, but we have taken a few steps in the right direction. We finally
got married on April 26, 2003 and are expecting Zach’s brother or sister around
March 7, 2004.
